Charlie Mitchell

Growing up in Plattsburgh I learned to appreciate the history of our region. In 2009 my son attended a history camp and was invited to the Battle of Plattsburgh. He said, “hey Dad, you should do this too.” I did attend and I was hooked. The next year I met Craig Russell and I started to attend some of the French and Indian War 250th events. That led to a further interest in the War of 1812, Civil War and War of Independence.

I really enjoy researching the history of battles of these time periods as well as the uniforms, weapons and accoutrements. I’ve learned how to sew uniforms and do some of the leather work.  As a volunteer at Ft. Ticonderoga I am able to improve my impressions as a reenactor by learning proper drill techniques as well as improving my sewing and leather work.
