John D. Barton Jr. grew up in Old Tappan, NJ and Bristol, RI, and now resides in Providence. After a previous life as a musician (trumpet), he has worked as an electrical engineer and inventor for the past 35 years. A self-confessed news junkie, his interests include the history of industrialized technology (particularly in New England), and improvisatory cooking.

Luke Cyphers worked as a sports reporter for the New York Daily News and then served as a senior writer at ESPN The Magazine. Now a trustee of the Clinton County Historical Association, the Plattsburgh resident writes about sports, history and the environment for Adirondack Life magazine and various online publications.
